Maker Faire Bay Area

We’ve got a micro update this week because I’m scrambling to get ready for Maker Faire Bay Area! Setup starts tomorrow!

If you are in the Bay Area come by and say hello! Anna is still out so it’s just me that you can chat with, but I should be there all three days.

If you can’t make it we’ll tell you all about it in next week’s update.

I decided to lift my horizontal frame up on legs this year (I didn’t want to travel with the whole steel frame and 2x4s are cheap and available everywhere 😀). I got a couple sawhorse kits and threw them under the frame and so far it seems to be working great! Not 100% as sturdy as I would like, but pretty good.

I cut out a jumbo QR code which came out beautifully, but I really wish that I had inverted the image and painted the board black before starting so I could cut away the white parts because painting in the black is going to take a lot time 😛.

I’m also not sure how great of an idea a 4 foot tall QR code is. It’s neat, but you have to stand pretty far back to scan it which might not be ideal 😂. Live and learn! We’ll see how it goes.

Projects

Some very well executed Halloween decor made by @John_Brucker

This very spooky haunted Hayride Sign made by @GESDesigns which was cut from foam which is a cool material for something like this.

And finally last but certainly not least we have this stunning lamp Shade made by @gwen which uses no screws or glue! Amazing!

Don’t forget to cast cast your vote here. to pick this week’s winner, and keep posting your projects!

That’s all we’ve got for now, have a great week everyone! And come say hi in person if you can!
