Steady Updates and Improvements

Happy Wednesday Everyone,

Quick Shipping Update:

I have been told that by this Friday all of the kits which arrived to the US by sea will be shipped out so hopefully everyone in the US will have a tracking number by Friday or at the latest early next week if it takes a few days for the tracking numbers to get to me and be sent out.

I also got an update on the kits which are headed to the EU. They are scheduled to be sent out from Germany on May 5th. I know that those are taking a long time and I apologize for that. I will be keeping an eye on those and making sure that they move along as quickly as possible.

We had a bit of a shipping snafu this week because in my haste to make sure that everyone got their kit before the tariffs kicked in I accidentally sent 45 people double kits 🤦‍♂️. Fortunately I was able to re-direct almost all of them before they arrived but it did result in a very stressful series of phone calls with DHL 😄. For sure that is not something I want to do again.

Forums:

The forums have been quite lively this week which has been super fun. I know that I’ve been pulled in a lot of directions and I haven’t been running the project of the week contest, but bringing it back is a top priority.

In particular some threads that I enjoyed this week were:

This updated design for the toggle on and off router lock which now uses only the spare hardware from the kit which is beyond brilliant from @VetterTech.

I also liked this much simpler version which doesn’t block the wrench from @ian_ab.

And finally, while long, this excellent discussion about how the forces acting on the machine could be balanced to improve accuracy is an excellent read and exactly the kind of thing that keeps pushing the world of CNC routing forwards.

Assembly Instructions Update:

The critical steps Maslow 4.1 assembly instructions and packing list are now up to date. All of the things which have changed about the assembly process from 4.0 to 4.1 are now covered in both text and videos. You can of course find those here.

I am aware that some of the documentation in the user guide is out of date and urgently needs to be updated. There are a few user interface changes and improvements that need to be made urgently and then I will update both the documentation on the website and make a new walk through video for the calibration process.

Firmware Update:

Finally, we have firmware 1.04 which adds better, more clear messages in a number of places that folks have requested. It also fixes a bug where Release Tension was not available sometimes. A huge thank you to everyone who gave feedback on how things could be improved. Sometimes 90% of the challenge is figuring out what needs to be done and how the system should work and actually writing the code is pretty straightforward. You can find it here

Have a great week everyone!
