New Mold Photos and the Fire Pit Project
Happy Wednesday Everyone,
Kickstarter Preparation
This week we kept pushing ahead with the work to deliver the Maslow 4.1 update kits. Progress is going well on molds for our molded parts. The CAD files that we showed you last week have become real solid tooling and they will be assembled into molds soon. We expect to have the first sample parts from these molds right around December 10th when the Kickstarter finishes. Assuming that there are no issues with the parts we will be able to jump right into production without a delay.
Right now the biggest delay that we see coming is that the money from the Kickstarter isn’t delivered to us until about two weeks after the campaign ends, and waiting on that money to place our bulk orders will slow things down a little. In the meantime we are doing everything that we can to lay the groundwork so that as soon as the money arrives we can move as quickly as possible.
New Mold Photos
Here are some pictures of our molds in progress. Feel free to jump back to last week’s update to see the CAD models for them.
Firmware Update
This week we have a firmware update with version v0.86.
v0.86 brings a couple of small changes. Most notably we reduced the default value for force used during calibration because we found that some of the changes in v0.85 were leading to the belts being a little too tight.
This update also fixes a bug where Extend All -> Retract All -> Moving the Z-Axis would start to extend the belts in an undesirable way.
This update also includes some code clean up and exposes variables in the settings to adjust the mechanical dimensions of the arms to make it easier to use the firmware on machines other than the Maslow4.
Forums Highlight
Something really cool that we saw in the forums this week was from forums member @tryon who posted that he noticed dust collecting in some pockets on the sled. They explored a really neat solution of using a 3D printed part to redirect air flow into those pockets to keep the dust cleared out.
Super cool work.
The Fire Pit
This week Bar has also been working on making a firepit cover, just in time for the cold weather too! Check out the project video here for more details:
Have a great weekend everyone! and Happy Thanksgiving to those in the US!
