JST-XH Encoder Wires are Here
Happy Wednesday Everyone,
This week we got our first batch of the new JST-XH connector based parts which should hopefully fix encoder connection issues. You can find the updated encoder boards, controller boards and cables in the shop. This change replaces the RJ45 connector which hasn’t been handling dusty environments well with a JST-XH connector which should be much more robust to dust and vibration.
We’re starting out with a pretty small batch to make sure that they are working well for folks and fixing the issue so we would love to see this first batch go to folks who are seeing the 15mm position error and who are willing to install them and test them right away. Any feedback would be super super welcome.
We’ve been running them for about a week now of regular cutting and we’ve seen no issues so far, but it’s always the case that what works in our shop may not always work exactly the same in every environment.
This first test batch is just 10 boards so if there is something wrong we can catch it early and not get stuck with a big batch of bad (and expensive) boards so expect them to sell out reasonably fast, but fear not, more will be on the way quickly.

Project Highlights
The winner of last week’s remarkably competitive project of the week contest is the space needle coat rack! Well done!
This week we have a new crop of splendid projects! Vote Here
First up we have a super slick prize wheel that @Marzsman generously made for a local non-profit organization
Up next we have a power tool holder and charging station made by @pmodiano that we think should resonate with the Maslow community. We might need to build one of these ourselves.
Next we have a splendid mirror frame from @Jeremiad which really shows off some cool detailed work.
And finally @Hughmama posted a video of their truly astounding Maslow cut spiral staircase art work which blew us away.
Firmware Update
There’s no official firmware update this week, but there is an experimental release this week in the forums which adds a setting option to stretch the input file in X or Y to correct for any distortion in the design files, check that out, and as always give us feedback on if it’s something that you want to see incorporated into the firmware.
Have a great week everyone!
