Project Highlights, Frames, and Router Mods
Happy Wednesday Everyone,
This week is exciting because we have completed shipping both the Kickstarter kits and our pre orders! And now we officially have Maslow4s in stock and ready to ship! If you are in the kickstarter and haven’t received your kit yet, this is your weekly reminder to email Anna at anna@maslowcnc.com.
Firmware
This week's update adds a setting to control the threshold at which the calibration process will shut down and not continue. The default value of 0.5 is pretty conservative so if you are struggling to get through calibration reducing that value could help.
This week we also got some excellent new icons thanks to @ronlawrence3
Along with some automatic translation of the FluidNC error messages so instead of just seeing "error:3" you will get some human readable text to explain what that error is.
I also remembered to correctly bump the version numbers this week...Sorry! 🤦♂️
As always you can find the weekly firmware update at https://github.com/BarbourSmith/FluidNC/releases/
Inspirational Projects
Many of you have your Maslow4s up and running and we are starting to see some great projects! Here are some of our favorites in the forums from this week.
Forums user merlin1974 created a little mini cooper logo as a test cut:
Sylvain finished their 3D Saddle Seat for a stool, which they tested last week:
Forums user Frank made a Warre Hive Box for beekeeping:
Forums user Gijs created a test cut of puzzle pieces to check the accuracy of the machine:
Fantastic Frame Builds
You may have seen a popular post by Forums user CPL who designed an innovative Hourglass frame for their Maslow4. Forums user Thunderscreech decided to attempt to mount that Hourglass frame to a trailer and check out these results :
Another Forums user, Brandon, made crisp-looking frame based on our recommended frame design. He also created an SVG file of the brace plates!
Alternate Router Mods
While the DeWalt 611 is still the recommended router for use with the Maslow4, we recognize that the price point of that router may be out of reach for some, or that router may not be readily available all over the world. Some of our Forums users are making modifications to their kits to accommodate a variety of routers.
Forums user md8n has been customizing parts for their Kzubr router. Here are some photos from the process:
Forums user liubai had been using a Dongcheng router, here is a look at their modifications:
Keep up the good work everyone! And please post to the forums if you have questions or to share your projects with the community. We are currently working on collecting the most common problems into a troubleshooting guide which will help more users get cutting faster, so your feedback is greatly appreciated
