Maslow Mods and How To Part II
Happy Wednesday everyone!
Just a quick update this week.
Forums Highlights
@Md8n modified his Maslow 4 to use a brushless spindle this week and shared how he did it
@GESDesigns made this phenomenal sign from PVC which is a material that I would love to try working with. Check out his excellent video on the build process here:
@ronlawrence3 built a cool indoor frame so that he can keep testing his excellent software contributions closer to his desk. The back is a white board which is doubly cool.
In spite of some issues, Frank_Wiebenga made a beautiful potty training stool this week.
@VetterTech has put together an excellent collection of mods and improvements to customize his machine and shared the files. In particular I love the look of the yellow encoder wires.
In a follow up to last week's incredible boat build, @Sintrogers posted a video showing him enjoying the boat on the water.
Firmware Changes
Just last week we shared that we would be going to every other week with our firmware updates, but we have one this week anyway since there won’t be one next week and we have some exciting UI changes that we would love your feedback on.
We’ve made a bunch of tweeks and simplifications with the goal of generally continuing to make things easier to use and understand. We have a long term plan to reduce the number of options and screens that you need to interact with to make the machine easier to use, and the first step there is trying to bring all the buttons that you need to use onto the main screen.
We started out this week with bringing the z-axis controls onto the main screen.
We also worked to make it less easy to accidentally redefine the home position by making it so the “Define XY Home” button needs to be held down for 5 seconds for it to take effect.
How To Videos
We have continued to post some new tutorial videos to our Youtube channel. Since last week’s update we have added:
How to Set the XY Home and Begin a Cut
How to Extend the Belts
How to Update the Maslow Firmware
How to Set the Z Stop
As always, please let us know if you would like to see any specific videos. In the future we are going to try to produce some follow-along project videos to get help newer CNC users get into the swing of things.
And finally for the first time since the Kickstarter launched, Bar is going to be offline! He’s going to be camping with family next week with limited internet connection so if you need something from him, know that he isn’t ignoring you and he will be back!
Have a great week everyone!
